Throughout her childhood she trained in ballet, jazz and tap at the Isobel Dunn School of Dance and in her late teens started to perform and choreograph musical theatre productions for theatrical groups in her home town of York, England. On arrival in Brussels in 1980 she became involved with the English Comedy Club and American Theatre Company. Since then she has performed in and choreographed several shows for the various Anglophone theatrical societies in Brussels including pantomimes, Shakespeare plays, BLOC on Broadway, Anything Goes, A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum, Hello Dolly!, Pajama Game, Cabaret and Christmas Carol and Crazy for You.

Jeanette studied to become a dance teacher and is a Licentiate with the IDTA and PTD dance societies, and an Associate with the ISTD and NATD. She created her own dance school “JET’s School of Dance” in 1996 teaching jazz, tap & later on hip hop. The dance school puts on shows & concerts and the pupils take part in examination sessions too. In the past 23 years, the school has obtained a 100% pass rate in all the examination sessions, with many pupils receiving the highest mark.

Jeanette’s love of theatre started in York when she found out that not only was dancing fun on stage but also singing and acting ! She performed in such musicals as The Boyfriend, Bye Bye Birdie, My Fair Lady, Charley’s Aunt, Great Expectations and a number of variety shows. On arrival in Brussels she decided to seek out the theatre scene and found herself performing in Kiss me Kate and then a pantomime all in her first year ! Always loving the comedy aspect in plays, Jeanette (who has played many comic parts) likes to show her pupils that it isn’t only the principal character who can have the best role or the most fun.

Jeanette is a Licentiate with the IDTA in modern theatre dance and especially likes to teach her pupils the different stylized dances and steps which are necessary in all sorts of musicals today. She has also obtained LAMDA musical theatre examinations.

In today’s world of technology, it is so lovely to teach children the wonders of theatre, the excitement of going on stage, the thrill of the applause and to tackle live theatre where there is no rewind button !
